Job Description:
Our client, a world leader in the development and design of medical devices with headquarters in
Minneapolis, Minnesota, has retained our firm for recruiting another Human Factors Scientist to a growing team instrumental in developing a “game changing” structural heart device for commercialization in the United States.
This role is for a senior level contributor on an early stage product line with emphasis on consumable product development. We are seeking a creative, classically trained Human Factors Engineer who will be an integral part of the entire product life cycle.
With an emphasis on more mechanically (versus software) oriented product design, you’ll have the opportunity to work across the organization and interventional cardiology community to conduct customer and user needs identification and requirements, development of products for intended use, user and workplace profiles and usage scenarios. Issues relating to FMEA guidelines surrounding
task analysis, user error analysis, usability requirements, specifications and usability testing are all critical components to this role.
Heavy collaboration with mechanical and systems engineering that result in physical models and prototypes and product graphics that provide a clear picture of usability will be utilized directly in clinical study protocols and outcomes analysis in the field.
Great products don’t come from one person – they come from the collaborative generation of designs, then are tested using established HF guidelines and rigor.
Day to day activities relate directly to ideation, usability testing, usability metrics, along with
other standard design oriented HF principles.
This role is not for the academician or researcher who’s emphasis has been on determining efficacy; rather, on the design of life enhancing and life saving critical products for real people.
